In 2009, some outgoing (former) students of the Waikhom Mani Girls’ College felt the idea of formation of a forum for all former students. In a meeting held in the college on the 10-06-2009, the Alumni Association, Waikhom Mani Girls’ College was formed with Smt. P. Jiteshwori Devi, Y. Nungshi Devi, O. Renubala Devi as its president, secretary and treasurer respectively. The main objects of the association are:
- To provide assistance for higher studies to the poor rural students of the backward areas inhabited by SC/ST and OBC minorities.
- To assist in imparting and spreading higher education upto bachelor’s degree in Arts, Science, Commerce, technical or non technical subjects to the students.
- To give scholarship, prizes and financial assistance to students of this college to help them in their studies.
The association was registered in 2009 under societies registration Act 1989 (Manipur Act 1 of 1990) its registration number being 19 of 2009. The College authority provides a separate room for the association within the College campus. At present there are … members of the association.
It is really pleasing to see ex-students in different walks of life of different batches right from 1980 seize the opportunity of exchanging with one another after many years in the Almameter where once they stood as innocent girls’ unaware of what the providence was in store for them. The association is encouraging the students by giving rewards, certificates, mementos and financial assistance to meritorious students and position holder students of the college.
Some of the activities of the association are:
(i) To establish a good academic atmosphere in the College campus by holding interaction session with students.
(ii) To encourage students by providing scholarships.
(iii) To create a good relationship among teachers and guardians of the students.
(iv) To assist, if possible, infrastructure development of the College.
